Product Description
The Matrice 4T Rapid Deer Recovery Kit puts five sensors, a laser rangefinder, AI detection, and UHR thermal imaging into one field-ready package. This is the thermal drone serious recovery operators are switching to. The 640x512 thermal sensor with super-resolution up to 1280x1024 picks up heat signatures through brush, fog, and darkness. The 112x hybrid zoom lets you visually confirm what the thermal found before you send anyone into the field. Four batteries give you roughly three hours of total flight time. Hard case and spotlight are included. Whether you're launching a drone deer recovery operation or adding thermal capability to what you're already doing, this kit gets you in the air and finding animals.
What's in the Kit
- DJI Matrice 4T aircraft with a five-sensor gimbal: 640x512 thermal, 48MP wide, 48MP medium telephoto, 48MP telephoto (112x hybrid zoom), and laser rangefinder
- DJI RC Plus 2 controller with a 7.02" high-brightness touchscreen and dual control sticks
- 4 intelligent flight batteries giving you up to 49 minutes per battery, roughly 3 hours total flight time
- Battery charging hub for sequential charging of all 4 batteries
- DJI AL1 Spotlight with 32W focused illumination and 100m range for ground approach after you locate your target on thermal
- GPC-style hard case with custom foam that fits the entire kit including controller
- Propeller sets so you're always mission-ready
Who This Kit Is For
This is the kit we put together for people who want a turnkey thermal drone setup that works out of the box. That includes hunters who want to find downed deer without tracking dogs, Part 107 pilots building a drone deer recovery business, landowners and ranch managers dealing with feral hog damage, wildlife agencies running herd surveys and population counts, and search and rescue teams that need thermal capability without a massive budget. If you're charging for recoveries, doing night operations, or managing wildlife on a property, the M4T gives you the sensor package and flight time to do real work.
How It Works for Deer Recovery
Set up in a clearing or open area away from trees and structures so the drone can lock onto GPS satellites cleanly. Once you're airborne, the thermal camera picks up the deer's heat signature through brush, fog, or total darkness. UHR mode doubles the thermal resolution to 1280x1024 so you can get clear identification at altitude. Then punch in with the 112x zoom to confirm it's your deer and not a coyote or a raccoon. The laser rangefinder drops a GPS pin on the exact location. Walk straight to it.
AI detection automatically flags heat sources so you're not scanning every pixel manually. Smart Track locks onto a moving target and follows it if the animal is still on the move. Four batteries give you roughly three hours of flight time per charge cycle, which is enough to cover multiple search areas in a single night.
Thermal Drone Applications Beyond Deer Recovery
The Matrice 4T isn't a single-purpose drone. Recovery pilots use the same platform for feral hog detection and hog hunting coordination, predator surveillance for coyotes and bobcats, lost pet recovery, wildlife surveys and herd census counts, elk and bear recovery in mountain terrain, and search and rescue operations. If you're building a thermal drone business, this is one drone with multiple revenue streams year-round.
Optional Add-Ons
| Accessory | What It Does |
|---|---|
| DJI AS1 Speaker | 114 dB broadcast. Play an owner's voice during pet searches to get a reaction, or use it for SAR callouts and public announcements. Mounts directly to the M4T. |
| Covert Tactical Vision 21.5" Monitor | If you're running a drone recovery business, this monitor lets a second person watch the thermal feed in real time without standing over the pilot's shoulder. Useful for training new operators, coordinating with ground teams, or letting a paying client follow along on the search so they can see exactly what the drone sees. |
| PowerHub 200W Triple Charger | Charges 3 batteries at the same time instead of one at a time like the included DJI hub. If you're doing back-to-back recoveries, this cuts your downtime significantly. |
Protection and Coverage
This is a genuine, unused DJI drone with zero flight hours. We activate each unit prior to shipment to verify proper function and regional compatibility. It has never been flown.
Please note: Because we complete a universal, region-free activation, this unit is not eligible for DJI Enterprise Care or DJI's U.S.-based manufacturer warranty. DJI can still service and repair these units through their paid repair program if needed. If your drone arrives with a defect, contact us within 48 hours and we'll coordinate a replacement or repair at no cost to you.
CPS Drone Protection Plan (Available at Checkout)
We offer the CPS Accidental Drone Protection Plan as an optional add-on at checkout. This covers both personal and commercial use, so whether you're flying recreationally or running a paid recovery operation under Part 107, you're protected. Here's what the plan includes:
- Crash and impact damage including hard landings, collisions with trees or structures, and anything that happens during normal flight operations
- Water and liquid damage if your drone goes down in a creek, pond, or wet field
- Internal hardware failure covering malfunctions that aren't caused by user error
- Remote controller coverage for hardware malfunctions and accidental damage to the RC Plus 2
- Camera and gimbal coverage for the integrated sensor package that ships with the drone
If CPS can't repair the drone, they replace it. A deductible applies at the time of the claim, and plan lengths vary depending on the option you select at checkout. We strongly recommend adding this to your order. Without DJI Enterprise Care available on these units, the CPS plan is the simplest way to protect your investment from day one.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you use a drone to find a dead deer?
Yes. A thermal imaging drone detects the heat signature of a deer carcass through brush, tall grass, fog, and darkness. The Matrice 4T's 640x512 thermal sensor with UHR super-resolution to 1280x1024 gives you enough detail to locate a downed deer from altitude, and the 112x zoom lets you visually confirm it before you walk in. Most drone deer recovery operations take minutes instead of hours compared to tracking on foot.
What drone do deer recovery pilots use?
The DJI Matrice 4T and Matrice 30T are the two most widely used platforms for professional deer recovery. The M4T is lighter, more portable, and has a longer flight time per battery (49 minutes). The M30T is heavier duty with an IP55 weather rating for rain and dust. For most recovery operators, the M4T provides the right balance of thermal capability, portability, and price.
Do I need a Part 107 license for drone deer recovery?
If you're charging money for deer recovery services, yes. The FAA requires a Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate for any commercial drone operation. That includes getting paid to find someone's deer. The test is 60 multiple-choice questions, costs around $175, and most people pass after a few weeks of studying. If you're only flying recreationally on your own property to find your own deer, Part 107 is not required, but you do need a TRUST certificate (free online).
How much does it cost to start a drone deer recovery business?
Your startup costs are the drone kit, a Part 107 license ($175 for the test), FAA drone registration ($5), and insurance. With this Matrice 4T Rapid Recovery Kit you have the drone, controller, four batteries, spotlight, and case covered. Add a CPS protection plan at checkout and liability insurance from an aviation provider, and you're operational. Most recovery pilots charge between $300 and $500 per search depending on the area.
Is the Matrice 4T good for hog hunting?
The M4T is one of the go-to thermal drones for feral hog detection and night operations. The 640x512 thermal sensor picks up hog heat signatures through dense brush and the AI detection helps flag movement automatically. Landowners and ranch managers use it to scout hog activity, map rooting damage, and coordinate ground teams in real time. For dedicated hog control operations in wet or extreme weather, consider the Matrice 4TD which adds an IP55 weather rating.
