What This Drone Does
When It Actually Matters

Three in the morning. Forty acres of woodline. Missing person, suspect in a structure, or a roof you cannot put anyone on. Here is what the 4T does.

01
Scenario · 3AM, Dense Terrain

Search & Rescue

"Missing person. Dense terrain. Ground team is spread thin. You need coverage fast."

The 4T's thermal sensor picks up body heat through brush, in complete darkness, from altitude. Your team covers in hours what would take days on foot. The real-time downlink goes straight to command.

  • 640×512 thermal with UHR mode up to 1,280×1,024
  • 48MP telephoto with 112x hybrid zoom for positive ID
  • 49-minute flight time per battery
  • Live video downlink to command post
02
Scenario · Suspect in Structure

Law Enforcement Surveillance

"Suspect in a building. You need eyes before your team goes in."

Thermal positioning. Zoom identification. Live feed to your IC. You know exactly where that subject is before anyone steps through the door. That is what the 4T does, without putting anyone at risk unnecessarily.

  • Laser rangefinder to 1,800 meters
  • Smart Track maintains lock on moving targets
  • AI detection of people, vehicles, and vessels
  • Encrypted O4 Enterprise transmission to 25 km
03
Scenario · Structure Fire

Fire & Emergency Response

"Roof integrity unknown. Hot spots spreading. IC needs real-time situational awareness."

The 4T maps the thermal signature of the structure live so your IC can position resources correctly and pull people before things go wrong. Thermal and visible light simultaneously. No guessing.

  • Simultaneous thermal + visible light
  • Low Gain mode reads to 550°C for active fire
  • 12 m/s wind resistance during operation
  • Livestream to any device on command network

All-Weather & DFR Programs DJI Matrice 4TD First Responder Kit with thermal drone, spotlight, speaker, and complete deployment contents

DJI Matrice 4TD
First Responder Kit

The 4TD is built for agencies that deploy in any weather, run extended shifts, or are planning a Drone as First Responder program. IP55 rated. Fixed-arm airframe built for durability. Anti-ice propellers and an operating range from -30°C to 50°C. Dock 3 compatible for autonomous 911 dispatch.

Important: The 4TD does not fold. It uses a fixed-arm airframe for durability over portability. If vehicle storage and rapid case deployment matter, the 4T is the better fit.

Side by Side

4T vs 4TD ·
Here is How to Choose

Both aircraft share the same thermal sensor, the same optical cameras, the same laser rangefinder, the same RC Plus 2 Enterprise controller, and the same DJI Pilot 2 software. The differences are about airframe, weather rating, and how you intend to deploy.

Weather & Sealing
4TD wins if rain matters

The 4TD is IP55 rated. Fully sealed against dust and sustained low-pressure water jets. The 4T has no official IP weather rating and should not be flown in heavy precipitation. If your department regularly deploys in rain, snow, or harsh field conditions, the 4TD is the safer choice. For mostly clear-weather operations, the 4T performs fine.

Airframe & Portability
4T folds, 4TD does not

The 4T has foldable arms and packs down into a portable case. Easier to transport and store in a patrol vehicle, faster to deploy on scene. The 4TD has a fixed-arm airframe and does not fold. It is built for durability and Dock 3 integration. Larger, heavier, takes more storage space.

Flight Time
4TD flies longer

The 4T delivers up to 49 minutes per battery. The 4TD delivers up to 54 minutes per battery. For extended missions, suspect containment, structure fire overwatch, or long-area searches, that extra 5 minutes per battery adds up across a hot-swap rotation.

Operating Temperature
4TD handles extreme cold and heat

The 4T operates from -10°C to 40°C (14°F to 104°F). The 4TD extends from -30°C to 50°C (-22°F to 122°F) with included anti-ice propellers. For cold-climate operations, winter SAR, or summer rooftop work in direct heat, the 4TD's environmental tolerance matters.

Obstacle Avoidance
4TD has LiDAR + radar

Both have omnidirectional vision-based obstacle avoidance. The 4TD adds a rotating LiDAR plus millimeter-wave radar module that detects 12mm wire at flight speeds up to 15 m/s. For powerline and transmission inspection, or low-visibility flight near infrastructure, this is a meaningful safety upgrade.

DFR & Dock 3
4TD is DFR-ready

The 4TD pairs with DJI Dock 3 for autonomous Drone as First Responder programs. Aircraft launches automatically on 911 dispatch, flies the route, and returns to base without a pilot. The 4T does not pair with Dock 3. For agencies building DFR programs, the 4TD is the platform.

Funding & Procurement

How Agencies
Buy DJI in 2026

Federal grant funding for DJI changed at the end of 2025. We will not pretend it did not. Here is the honest breakdown of how agencies are still purchasing these platforms, and where DJI no longer qualifies.

YES
Department Capital Equipment Budgets
Direct line-item purchases from your operating or capital budget. Most common path for DJI in 2026.
YES
Municipal & County General Funds
City, county, or township general fund appropriations. Not federal money, no ASDA restriction.
YES
State-Only Grant Programs
Grants funded entirely by state appropriations, not federal pass-through. Eligibility depends on your state. Verify with your state administrator.
YES
Asset Forfeiture & Drug Task Force Funds
State and local forfeiture funds, depending on your jurisdiction's policies.
YES
Private Donations & Foundation Grants
Community foundations, civic groups, and private donors. Common for volunteer fire departments and rural SAR teams.
NO
Federal Grant Programs (after 12/22/2025)
Byrne-JAG, COPS, SHSP, UASI, AFG, EMPG, and other federal funds, including federal pass-through to states, cannot be used to purchase DJI. The American Security Drone Act and FAR 52.240-1 restrict federal money to Blue UAS Cleared List drones. We will tell you upfront if your funding source does not work.
VERIFY
State-Level DJI Restrictions
Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, and other states have their own restrictions on government use of Chinese-made drones. These rules vary by agency type and are independent of federal law. Verify with your state administrator or legal counsel before procurement.

We are not a grant administrator or legal advisor. Always verify your specific funding source and program rules with your agency's procurement office or legal counsel before placing an order.

What We Provide

Documentation Your
Purchasing Office Needs

We know what your procurement officer and department head are going to ask for. Here is what we have ready when you place an order, regardless of funding source.

Procurement Documents We Provide
  • Formal quote on company letterhead
  • Official purchase order acceptance
  • Net 30 terms for qualified agencies
  • W-9 and vendor registration documentation
  • Product specification sheets
  • Itemized invoice and receipt
  • Line-item pricing broken out by component

We do not provide FEMA AEL codes, sole-source justification letters, NDAA compliance certifications, or Blue UAS verification. DJI does not qualify for those frameworks. If your procurement requires any of those, we will tell you upfront so you do not waste time. We would rather lose the sale than have your purchase rejected after the fact.

From Lucas

"Most agencies come to us after they have already made the wrong purchase somewhere else. We would rather spend an extra 20 minutes on the phone making sure you are buying the right thing, and that your funding source actually works for DJI, than make a quick sale on the wrong one. That is just how we operate."

Common Questions

Things Agencies Usually Ask Us

Important · Federal Grant Funding & DJI as of December 2025

The two-year transition period of the American Security Drone Act ended December 22, 2025. Under FAR 52.240-1, federal funds, including federal grants and federal pass-through dollars, can no longer be used to purchase or operate DJI drones. This affects programs like Byrne-JAG, COPS, SHSP, UASI, AFG, and EMPG.

The Matrice 4T and 4TD remain fully legal to own, sell, and operate under existing FAA rules. The restriction is on the funding source, not the aircraft itself. Department capital budgets, municipal funds, state-only programs, asset forfeiture, and private donations are still valid funding paths for DJI. Call us if you are not sure whether your funding source qualifies. We would rather tell you upfront than have a problem later.

Not after December 22, 2025. The American Security Drone Act transition period has ended, and FAR 52.240-1 prohibits federal funds, including grants and federal pass-through dollars, from being used to purchase or operate DJI drones. That covers Byrne-JAG, COPS, SHSP, UASI, AFG, EMPG, and most FEMA-administered programs. The Bureau of Justice Assistance only allows Blue UAS Cleared List drones for UAS purchases, and DJI is not on that list. If federal grant money is your only funding source for this purchase, we will tell you that upfront rather than waste your time. If you have a different funding source, the DJI platforms remain fully legal to purchase and operate.
Department capital equipment budgets, municipal and county general funds, state-only grant programs that are not federally funded, asset forfeiture funds (subject to your jurisdiction's policies), private donations, and foundation grants are all still valid paths. Some states have their own DJI restrictions independent of federal rules. Verify with your state administrator. The general rule: if no federal money is involved at any point in the funding chain, ASDA does not apply.
Yes, and we do this regularly. We provide formal quotes on company letterhead with full line-item pricing broken out by component. Aircraft, controller, batteries, spotlight, case, accessories. We also accept purchase orders and can provide W-9 documentation for vendor registration. Net 30 terms are available for qualified agencies. Fill out the form below or call (863) 224-6923 and we will have a quote to you the same business day.
Yes. The restriction on DJI is about funding sources and federal procurement, not flight operations. Both the Matrice 4T and 4TD received FCC equipment authorization prior to the December 2025 FCC Covered List update, which means they can continue to be imported, sold, and operated under existing FAA rules. Your existing fleet and any units purchased now are not impacted operationally. Some states (Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, and others) have their own state-level restrictions on government use of DJI. Verify your state's rules independently.
Yes, the DJI Matrice 4T has foldable arms and packs down into a portable case. Easier to transport and store in a patrol vehicle. The Matrice 4TD does not fold. It has a fixed-arm airframe designed for permanent deployment, all-weather operation, and Dock 3 integration. If vehicle storage and rapid case deployment matter, the 4T is the better fit. If your operation needs IP55 weather rating and DFR-ready autonomy, the 4TD is the platform.
No. DJI is a Chinese-manufactured product and is not on the Blue UAS Cleared List or otherwise NDAA compliant. If your procurement framework requires NDAA compliance, Blue UAS verification, or sole-source justification, DJI will not qualify and we cannot provide that documentation. We do not sell Blue UAS platforms (Skydio, BRINC, Parrot, Teal, Freefly), so if that is what you need, we will point you elsewhere rather than try to make it fit.
Delivery is typically 5 to 7 business days. We confirm availability and an accurate timeline when you reach out. We work with both U.S. and international inventory sources to maintain availability when others are backordered. We do not give you vague shipping windows. If something changes, we tell you before it is a problem.
Yes, for qualified agencies and government entities. Net 30 terms are available and we accept purchase orders. Contact us to discuss your situation. We work with how public safety purchasing actually operates and will not make you jump through unnecessary hoops.
CPS is third-party accidental protection available at checkout. It covers crash damage, water damage, internal hardware failure, controller damage, and camera/gimbal damage on commercial Part 107 operations, which includes active SAR missions, law enforcement, and fire response. It replaces the aircraft if it cannot be repaired. For a public safety agency where the drone is mission-critical equipment, having it out of service for a repair cycle has real operational consequences. We recommend it for agencies running the drone operationally.
The big resellers will process your order. When your incident commander needs a quote formatted by end of day, when your procurement officer has questions, when your pilot has a question at 2 AM during a callout, that is where we are different. Real people pick up the phone. We have been doing this since 2017 and have shipped over 5,000 orders. We know how agencies buy. We will tell you if something does not qualify, including if your funding source does not work for DJI, rather than let you find out after the fact.
